i wish we can live longer. a semi century is too short. don't you think societal changes happen due to generational self-replacement. The place we conceive ourselves to be in when we become middle-aged adults probably would be different when we get there. Political setting, intellectual strata, fashion, pop music, everything. It spawned 90.5 fm didn't it. Maybe it's just me, that just because 'society' is a fixed word i grasp it as a frozen image, idea, impression. but chances are what i prepare myself for would end up just throwing me off. and ironically the future would always be different for us because of the fact that we are in it, the ones redefining it.
bought a badge that says "i smile because i have no idea what's going on"! :D cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and is there a reason why irony is so important and ubiquitous. Like being a lit theme and all, so rich to the mind. is it only just because apparent contradictions stir the logocentric mind, or some embedded, subconscious philosophy that we subscribe to in the end, like everything is self defeating and the snake eats its tail and stuff.
should we subscribe to the mysterious, unproven, unspoken anyway? do we accept like heaney does that a door leads into the duck and we all have subconscious alignments and hidden reasons. practically we should because that's where science begins so we should wait and hope but for the moment it's a bit trashy now isn't it. all this self indulgent bog-corpse poetry thing while people are killing people when racial consciousness is hardly a "circles are round" clear-cut answer, it reeks a bit of wussiness. of course from the other side of the argument i might just be oppressing myself. but there was this economist article recently about more pple being therapists and non-freudian analysts now and don't you agree a good talk about problems over cookies and tea is so much better than having people telling you you were having incestrous inclinations before you even knew of the word puberty.

Imagine this country where everyone petitions against democracy, so the government changes into an autocratic system, and the elected king abdicates despite everyone's wishes because he is anti-monarchical.
