i must confess: i did forget that singapore is 8 hours behind greenwich meridian time. by extension, that's kinda like forgetting that the world is round, spins on its axis, and is approximately 12,756 km in diameter.

ok, maybe not, considering that i didn't know that the earth was 12,756 km in diameter before i went to check wikipedia 5 minutes ago.

but the first two points still stand!

or it could well be a simple moment of absent-mindedness born of fatigue, since i only got back from italy the day before that conversation.

i still like to over-dramatise things. i therefore demand your willing suspension of disbelief.

but here it is at 11.20pm and i am blogging, and it is still the 22nd of december. ha! (in your face, kaipok! i have more time to anticipate christmas and new year.) which reminds me: nearly 2007! how time flies - and by this i do not mean that i was surprised to not see romans in togas. A.D. 476 is a date relentlessly drummed into me last year by my first essay of hilary term.

no, i really was not surprised to see romans in jeans.

but the funny thing was, there were romans in centurions' uniforms hanging around outside the colosseum charging tourists to photograph them. centurions with plastic swords and skin-coloured leggings to protect their bare legs from the cold. (people who have watched gladiator, or read picture books about the roman empire, would know that roman soldiers wore skirts, with no leggings underneath. makes one wonder how they had managed to survive british weather when julius caesar landed on the island. or perhaps they started wearing stockings.)

anyway, in order to get around the time problem, i have decided to alter the blogger timestamp to GMT +4:00. this does not mean, however, that either kai or i are blogging in baku, tbilisi, or dubai. (but wouldn't it be cool if we were?) it is merely a convenient compromise, because 0 + 8 divided by 2 = 4.

whew. that sum took some time, since a year of writing essays has impaired my already questionable arithmetical ability. (just some months ago i divided 100 by 8 and got 22.something. and i did end up buying a bit more chicken than i intended to from the supermarket. this is not a joke.)

anyway, the point of all that waffle is that: it's been some time, and hopefully the chemistry is still there. (NaOH + HCl ---> NaCl + H2O) good! at least something remains from the O levels. (and yes, i couldn't resist a lame joke. so stone me.)

we're back, for the time being :)
