2 reasons why a 5th week essay is like a crowd of zombies from resident evil:

1) it eats your brains
2) it refuses to die a quick death (?). you empty your chain gun into it, hack at it with a battle axe, smash it with a crowbar, but there are too many of them! and the crowd of zombies doesn't stop coming on until it devours your brains.

yes. despite procrastination, twiddling thumbs, admiring the purity of blank walls and ceilings, and voyages of discovery into the uncharted depths of youtube and webcomics - basically, a week when your brain has gone on strike because you're sick of work and miss home - you realise you have an essay to write at 10pm, 2 hours after it's due.

and then you try to finish it within 2,000 words (that was 1am) but its will to live is stronger than yours.

having deployed the entire murderous arsenal at your disposal against it, it finally succumbs 3 hours later, with incomplete footnotes, a non-existent bibliography, and a wordcount at 4,500 words. your mind is shutting down and flickering like a filament lightbulb about to blow.

at times like this you really hate louis xiv.
