well, i shaved off a large portion of my left index fingernail with a potato peeler while preparing the ingredients for chicken curry. this is slightly less funny than it sounds, and quite a bit more painful.
it is also slightly embarassing to admit that you do not know how to handle a potato peeler properly.

and i believe the topic of era shifts has been blogged about before on this very blog, in one of its earlier posts.
(that was very long ago.)
it's not so much a matter of an era shifting, bringing all its songs together with it. how would one tell anyway? (because i assume artists are individuals with distinctive styles; or maybe that is not an assumption suitable for pop music.) it's more like, subtly and one by one songs start to alter until somewhere along the line someone realises that, hey, it's not the 60's anymore. (and it doesn't have to do with 12 midnight 31st december 1969.) it's like one by one as the albums drop out of the charts, and as their listeners one by one celebrate their 25th birthdays (but they're young at heart forever! so they proclaim, but they stop engaging in free sex and drugs). so it's only an ever-s0-slight and imperceptible tectonic shift from 98.7FM to 90.5FM. so "song by song and silently, her shining bounds increase." (yes, this is a line from gustav holst's i vow to thee my country altered and taken out of context, so that it's unrecognisable, and, hopefully, just vaguely funny.)
(crap. who am i kidding?)
anyway, the day is not far off. it's only 5 years to 25, people (most of you who read this anyway) and it will soon come to pass that you will listen to 90.5FM in desperate nostalgia, driving your japanese car back home from your 9 to 5 job to your 4/5-room HDB flat, wife and 1.26 kids. and your kids will think you are an impossible old fuddy-duddy. the worst bit is, you won't even know what hit you. you probably won't realise it until long after it's attacked your equally unsuspecting younger siblings.
and i will be immune because i listen to bach. HA.
and then we die.

Hey Kaisiang,
1. my way of settling the time difference is not 'non-functional'. that kinda implies that the blogger server will implode once realising that we are not blogging from dubai, tbilisi, or baku. in other words, it works, damnit. therefore, since it works, it functions, and if it is still functioning now, it's functional. so there.
screw your employers.
and, for the record, i don't drink yang3 ming4 jiu3.
2. which leads us onto an interesting thought. if romans wore skirts, how can they ride horses without zhao geng-ing?
3. "there were romans in centurions' uniforms hanging around outside the colosseum charging tourists to photograph them."
no, what i really meant was that modern romans were putting tourists in charge of taking photos of them in centurion uniforms. it's so obvious.
