A popular irony which concerns the writing of fact and fiction is that fiction has the onus to be credible, whereas the need to communicate fact is intensified when its content is unbelievable.
Our objective is therefore aligned to this home truth, when Tong and I say that we intend to shut down this blog. It lacks credibility, because we have so often said this, but it shouldn't because this time we really mean it (again).
Several reasons
1. Admit it, it's lost any remaining shreds of quality
2. It will suck more
3. We're very stressed about it!!!
These vigorous factors have frequented out attentions for quite some time now! For a few months we have been almost hiatusing or shut-downing, but we haven't, because of one excellent reason -
We don't have a nice scandalous photo like the french fry one, to commemorate the ending :)
However, once Ruomei uploaded her photos taken during Joyce's (wonderful!ThankyouforinvitingmeJoyce) birthday party we'll have more than enough soon!

A Reminiscence
(sorry Tongtong I'm writing first though you're the historian!)
It's so lovely to go back to visit the Humanit ieees Tutors (Word misspelt because Mr. Barnard apparently hunts blogs by googling that word).
There are many Standard Attractions now-
The Miles-Perry cross talk routine
The Ask Barnard "What's my Name" show
Speak to Nice Burge section
The renewal of the "Sunnucks is not an English Name" Miles-Tong Agreement
-Pact
Here were some Occurrences (Feel Free to Add your Recollections)
Cross-talk
"So what do you do now, Johnny?" Mr. Perry asks.
"I'm gainfully unemployed," comes the reply.
"That sounds like Mr. Miles," Mr. Perry notices.
Mr. Miles is indignant. "I'm not gainfully unemployed!"
Mr. Burge makes a quiet comment about how the error lies in the word "gainfully", but no one hears his casual observation. Perhaps feeling unappreciated, he makes for the library.
03A14 was really the too-quiet class-
"Which year were you all again?" Mr. Barnard asks us.
"Oh, fifteen years ago," Mr. Perry replies.
Then ensues the five-minute debate where the three tutors in the room argue whether Johnny is our senior.
Mr. Miles preys on Mr. Barnard's mind by calling Charlene "Stephanie" - "Don't you remember Stephanie?" After a pained interval Mr. Barnard eventually walks to the wall where the class photos are and studies them carefully.
Mr. Barnard has never known my name, will never know it, and I will therefore never give it.
Some Mudslinging-
Mr. Perry complains that while there are two History teachers, Mr. Miles still whines all the time about his workload AND goes home early.
Mr. Miles pertinently asks, "Who's the one who has already finished teaching the syllabus?"
Mr. Perry is hysterical,"Well, me, but I can't help it that they've halved my syllabus!"
Mr. Burge - "Just what we need. Another history teacher."
How To Be Politically Correct
Mr. Barnard on Mr. White (Whom Mr. Miles addresses as The Mite White) - "Oh we don't say that he's gone home. No!"
"No!" echoes the other tutors.
"We say he is 'not in the room at the moment'."
"'Not in the room at the moment'," chorused the other tutors, nodding in agreement.
The Sun does set on the British (and partly Scottish) Empire - You realise it when Mr. Barnard points out that the monkey head is the only one in the room that understands Mr. A, and Mr. Miles affirms that the monkey is Mr. A's favourite tutor.
Paradise Lost
Mr. Miles recounts how during a school trip in Philippines, it was his birthday, so in the evening Mr. Perry brought him out of the hotel, promising, "I'll show you a good time."
It turns out that the city has been cleaned up considerably since Mr. Perry has last been there, such that "What remained was just the violence." After entering a club where the front door bears a sign saying "Please leave your handguns here", it became a rather short trip.
"We left at eight, we were back in our rooms at, what, 8.30pm?" Mr. Miles confirms with Mr. Perry.
Mr. Perry testily replies, "It was more like forty five minutes, actually."
Tsk. Oh how Mr. Miles exaggerates.
